My husband and I lived in Roswell
in the mid 1950s when my husband was stationed at Walker Air Base. Soon
after he finished his tour, we left there and moved to Lubbock, TX. In 1963
we adopted a little girl from Roswell. Before adoption, my daughter's name
was Maria Thresea WASHINGTON.
Our adopted daughter is now 48 years old and would like to find her mother if she is still living. Her mother's name was Herta Arlt WASHINGTON, and she was married to an airman, Arthur Lee WASHINGTON. He had adopted Teresa before he and Herta came back to the States from Germany. I believe there was a divorce, and he was awarded custody of the children. He was a a black man, and the mother was white. She walked out on the family and would not care for the children. Arthur did not want to take Teresa with him to Chicago. He is now deceased, and so is Teresa's brother, Bernard. She has a half sister in Chicago, but apparently Herta, her mother, didn't stay to rear her either, so she does not know where her mother is. If you have any information on Herta Arlt WASHINGTON, please contact me. | |
