| My grandparents, Wilber Walden RESTER and Helen Lorena
RICHARDS, were married in 1930 in New Mexico, but I don't know when or
where.
He was working for the USDA, she was teaching in Hagerman, and their first child was born in Artesia, so my guess is that they were married in Chaves County or Eddy County. I would greatly appreciate any information about when (month, day) and where (county, city, church) they were married. | |

| My grandfather, Francis Marion THOMPSON, a.k.a. Gabe,
was a sheriff in Roswell during Prohibition. He owned Pecos Valley
Groceries (PVG), which I believe was located on the corner of Main and
Alameda streets.
At this time, the mayor was either my mother's or grandmother's uncle, possibly a VILLESCAS. Can you suggest where I can look for information? How do I find where my half sister was buried? She was buried in South Park and had no marker. Her name is Delores MONTOYA, a 9-month-old infant, who died in either 1938 or 1939. Thanks. | |

| I hope you can help me find the facts about a cemetery from
a story my grandmother told me.
Her baby sister, Ruth STOKER, was stillborn on February 22, 1916, while the family was traveling through New Mexico. She was buried where there was supposed to be a new cemetery, but the town decided to have the cemetery somewhere else. The land where the baby was buried was turned into a cow pasture, and the body was never moved to the new site. Parents: John Theophilus STOKER, born June 7, 1876 in Lafayette, Camp Co., TX; died April 11, 1950 in Phoenix, Maricopa Co., AZ. He married Leona Bell VICK October 13, 1900. She was born October 1, 1880 in Sevier Co., AR and died October 20, 1955 in Phoenix, Maricopa Co., AZ. They moved ton New Mexico in November 1915 and lived on the old Dodson Place. They moved on to homestead in St. Barian [St. Vrain, Curry Co.?] in 1916. They moved to Jathan, TX in December 1917, to Kennon (Kenna?), NM, and then to Roswell, NM in 1918. Please contact me if you recognize this family and have any clues on where Ruth STOKER may be buried. | |

| Juanitia COOKE, born October 4, 1918; died January
1985 in Roswell, New Mexico. We know of two sons, Don Emmett COOKE,
born October 10, 1940, and Derrick Charles COOKE, born March 30,
1943 in Gray County, Texas.

| I am trying to research Thomas Jasper CANTRELL, my
great grandfather. He passed away on July 11, 1932 in Roswell, New Mexico.
If anyone has any information, please let me know. I would also like any
information on his parentage.
All I know is that he was born in Mississippi on November 4, 1859 to T. CANTRELL from Mississippi and to a mother whose name is unknown. Thank you. | |

| Byron L. BROWN was born in Pennsylvania March 23,
1896. He died in Roswell, NM April 1, 1988. He came to Roswell in 1905
with his mother, brothers and sisters. He and his brother, Ross, owned the
Staple L Ranch southwest of Roswell.
He married Mattie O.D. ROBINSON (December 15, 1900-November 2, 1987) January 1, 1930 in Roswell. This is my line. I know Bryon's parents were Jerre and Sarah SPECHT BROWN. I need a list of his siblings. I have information on the ROBINSONs to exchange. Many thanks. | |

| Photo Needed: Would anyone researching Chaves County have a
photo of the Osteopathic Hospital that used to be located at 200 East Poe
Street, Roswell. Also, would anyone know when it was torn down?
My wife was born there just about 60 years ago, and has never seen it. Would be glad to pay any expense. A scan or photocopy would work fine. Thanks. | |

| Are there any photos available of 600 N. Kentucky Avenue,
Roswell, New Mexico. Was that area a ranch, and were fruit trees planted
there?
My grandparents, Pierre and Winifred SOUTHWORTH, lived there in 1910. My father, William, was born in that house July 31, 1912, and my Aunt Jane Louise was born there as well, August 18, 1910. I don't know how long my grandparents lived there. My search for information on my grandparents has been very challenging and elusive, and I would appreciate any information or leads you might be able to give me. Thank you. |

| I am searching desperately for a Clemen and Nancy HARROD
BUTLER (died February 27, 1928). He was said to have died in
Roswell, New Mexico, 28 November 1940.He was supposed to have taught
school in Roswell. [Note: His obituary listed him as an
optometrist. He may have also taught school. Susan] If you have
heard of anything about them, I would love to know.

Levi Chester ANDERSON, born in 1883 in Texas, married in Chaves
County in 1903 to Mollie Myrtle CLIFTON, born in 1885. They owned a
dairy farm in or near Hanover from 1918 to 1928 with Levi's parents. I
need any information you may have.
